Maurizio Sarri knows Callum Hudson-Odoi from his time as Chelsea manager and, according to 'LA Gazzetta dell Sports', has indicated to the Lazio board that his signing could be a good fit to bolster the squad.
A possible lack of opportunities which Chelsea in the 2021-2022 season could make the deal happen.
Hudson-Odoi is one of the young players in Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea squad, who are unlikely to give him a particularly notable role during the 2021-22 season. That's why Lazio have jumped onto his list of suitors, according to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport'. Bayern are also following him.
The 'Azzurri' interest responds to a personal request from Maurizio Sarri. The coach knows him from his previous spell on the bench at Stamford Bridge. He is aware not only of his potential, but also of the skills he could already display on the pitch, so he told the board that his arrival would be a good way to bolster the squad.
The striker has a contract in London until 2024, so, if he leaves, he could do so either on loan or on a transfer. It will all depend on how the talks with the Italian board develop, who would perhaps be better off taking him on loan so as not to have to make a major investment.
From Hudson-Odoi's point of view, the opportunity looks exciting. He has never played in Serie A and it would be a journey in search of a chance to break into the limelight. The other option, Bayern, is more difficult because Julian Nagelsmann's squad boasts more stars.
